Over 200,000 people national supported Zaidee’s Rainbow Hair Net Day for 2009.
Congratulations Australia the numbers are in for those that supported Zaidee’s Rainbow Hair Net Day on 9th November 2009.
Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation has made history in making this day the largest ever for organ and tissue donor and transplant awareness supported by you the people across this land for this special one day in a call of action.
Over 200,000 people wore Zaidee Rainbow Hair Nets Nationally, in Hospitals and Food Manufacturing sites in this our 5th year since Zaidee died.
This is just one of the many national awareness projects that we do each week, month and year to make sure that Zaidee’s story makes a difference to increasing the donation rate in Australia especially for children.
Hospitals and Food Manufacturing sites in every part of this land wore a Zaidee’s Rainbow Hair Nets and discussed organ and tissue donation. The feed back I am getting is from many parents that wore the hair nets, took them home and gave them to their kids and told them about the day they had at their work place and how everyone had a fun uplifting day with a powerful message becasue of a simple Rainbow Hair Net and little girls story.

Below is an email I received during Zaidee’s Hair Net campaign which is one of many of the years we are sent to say what a difference Zaidee’s campaign has made – this is the first one I have every made public as it hit home after the 5 years we have been beating Zaidee’s drum.
Thank you Stacy for sharing this with Kim, Jaz and I. Your family and all other donor families are very proud of what we have done and what our Fathers, Mothers, Sons and Daughters have given after death, the greatest gift of all their organ and tissues so others can live and live a better life.

Please find attached form for Zaidee’s Rainbow Hair Net Day.
Our theatre staff and catering staff here, at St John of God Hospital, Bendigo are required to wear hair nets and would be delighted to wear rainbow hair nets for this particular cause and I hope to see all other staff also wear them on Monday 9th November to raise awareness of this cause.
I personally hold a soft spot for this particular cause as my father passed away 18 months ago at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and it was the plaque of Zaidee that was outside the Critical Care Unit that made me and my family decide to donate my fathers organs and tissue and we also knew that he would have wanted to do that also. So it was because of the Zaidee’s Foundation that my father was able to save or help the lives of at least 3 other people.
Cheers,
Stacy

KEY MESSAGES
Talk to your family, friends and loved ones about your wishes in relation to organ and
Organ and tissue donation saves and/or transforms lives.
Have a memorable family discussion about organ and tissue donation, because when families know each other’s wishes organ donation is more likely to proceed.’
This is what Zaidee had with her Mum and Dad and as a result became a donor after her sudden death.

Melbourne Victory has teamed with Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation for 2009/10 and will don a slightly different look when it hosts Wellington Phoenix at Etihad Stadium this Sunday (kick off 3pm).
Melbourne Victory players will wear rainbow coloured shoe laces, a concept created by Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation, as part of the fight to generate greater awareness for organ and tissue donation.
Zaidee Rose Alexander Turner was only seven when she died from a cerebral aneurism and wanted to ensure that her healthy organs and tissue were used to help other sick children.
Her wish was granted and it’s the Foundation’s hope that her actions will inspire both children and adults to register on the National Donor Registry.
Melbourne Victory CEO Geoff Miles said the club was delighted to welcome Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation on board as an official charity partner of the club for 2009/10 and urged all Melbourne Victory fans to register as organ donors.
“Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation and the awareness of organ and tissue donation is a wonderful cause and one that we as a club are proud to be part of,” Miles said.
“Zaidee’s gift of her organs and tissue allowed other children to have another birthday, whereas one in five people on the transplant waiting list may never get that chance if people do not become registered donors and discuss organ and tissue donation as a family.
“For those people on the transplant waiting list, the rainbow symbol offers them hope and at the end of their rainbow is an organ or tissue to improve or save their life.”

AUSTRALIA’S BIGGEST SNOWMAN AT MT BULLER

This is an impressive figure high on Mt Buller today.
The project to build Australia’s biggest snowman began back in July at Mt Buller for Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation to help raise awareness about organ and tissue donation. The completion of the giant snowman was celebrated today with an excited crowd cheering as the rainbow scarf was added as the finishing flourish.
Allan Turner, CEO of the Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation and father of Zaidee was on hand to add the final touches to the giant snowman; “It’s been fantastic to see how excited everyone is today as we went past the seven metre mark on this giant snowman. We wanted to create something fun for families at Mt Buller this winter that also symbolises the cycle of life and the work we do at the Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation.” “Our Foundation encourages people to think about organ and tissue donation and talk to their children and loved ones about the difference it can make to others. This spectacular snowman has brought a lot of joy and he will then be donated back into the slopes on Mt Buller again.” “Our beautiful daughter died in 2004 aged just 7 years and 22 days and donated her organs and tissue, as was her wish. She was one of the youngest Australians to donate her organ and tissue at that time and was able to help many others with her life-saving gifts.
“Mt Buller is proud to have been a part of this exciting challenge to build Australia’s biggest snowman and to support Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation by raising awareness for this important cause this winter,” said Laurie Blampied, General Manager of Buller Ski Lifts. The Buller Ski Lifts mountain operations team helped construct the giant snowman with the help of visitors over the past 6 weeks.
We thank Neil Richie from Auski for sponsoring our phenix ski gear keeping us warn and dry in the snow while we build the snowman. http://www.auski.com.au/

On a visit to Parliament House in Canberra on Thursday 18th September 2008 at the reading of the new organ and tissue donation bill I was invited to have morning tea with the PM in his private office.
Kevin received a heart valve and Zaidee also donated a heart valve to a new born baby which we talked about.
I presented a pair of Zaidee’s Rainbow Shoelaces for which the PM said he does not wear laces in his work shoes and will put them in his runners instead.
