Record number of organ donors in 2008

January 7th, 2009

Thank you Australia for making 2008 the greatest result in 40 years for organ donation with 259 organ donors. The families of those who’s family member that gave the greatest gift of all after death or as a live donor should be proud of this result.

The figures for 2007 was198 donors.

This is a 30.85% increase a result that should again be the aim to be achieved for 2009. An extra 220 people benefited from the increase in donation in 2008, which was 846 recipients in total for solid organs. These 846 people who may not be alive to celebrated a Christmas and New Year, who’s loved ones now say goodnight and good morning everyday due to someone thinking of others at the time of the end of their life.

Having that discussion prior to anything happing is our message to you, would you be an organ and tissue donor if you are in a position to be one?

Merry Xmas one and all.

December 11th, 2008

To everyone that has supporter Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation over the past 12 months, may you and your family have a great festive season ahead.

This is the time of year that we think of others, please take time to think about every child that needs a transplant going into Christmas, at the bottom of their tree this year may not be an organ or tissue in wrapping paper.

It only comes from the kindest gift of all, from a person or family that thinks about others at a time when they lay on a “bed of life” which can benifit others after death.

To those that do receive a transplant any day of the year it will always be their Christmas on that day.

Four years has now gone by with out our Zaidee – like other families that will be having Christmas with out their loved ones which have become a donor it is never the same. Our family wishes those that have received ours and other gift/s (organs or tissues) continue to have a wonderful Christmas as will part of our kids, brothers, sisters, mums and dads live on just a little via them.
