Zaidee’s Rainbow Day School Program for Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness

Zaidee's Rainbow Day School Awareness Program

Thank you for seeking to support Zaidee’s Rainbow Shoelaces at your school. If you would like to develop a Zaidee’s Rainbow Day at your school you can follow the below fact sheet which lists some suggestions in obtaining support from students, teachers and from the school community.

  1. Firstly, take this matter up with the school student council, give them as much information about Zaidee’s Rainbow Shoelaces and the Foundation and then ask for their support.
  2. Call this event Zaidee’s Rainbow Shoelaces Day/Week.
  3. Once you have received the school council support then go and inform the Principal on what you are planning to do at the school for this day.
  4. Once this has been agreed start planning the day or week. Give the students as much information about what Zaidee’s Rainbow Shoelaces so they can make a decision on supporting the day. Not every student will support this day and possible some families have valid reasons why they wish not to support this day and that must be respected.
  5. Start by placing posters around the school or in the school news letter informing details about the day/week. The best day I suggest is a Friday, unless you go for a week or another day that is more appropriate for your school.
  6. With a class list in hand tick off those students that will purchase a pair of laces for $2.00 a pair.
  7. Tick their name off the list and then ask for the $2 the following week.
  8. Once you have all money collected from students, you then order the laces via an email back to me. I shall send you an invoice that is required to be paid and the laces will follow soon after. Order must always be to the closest 50. (Laces come in boxes of 50 pairs = 25 pairs x 110 cm and 25 pairs x 140 cm). $100 a box of 50 pairs inc GST.
  9. You will always have students and teachers purchase shoelaces on the day, so order a few more than you have but not to many.

Once you have all this, all that is left is to have a bright and colourful day at your school. You may wish to contact your local media/press either Newspaper, TV or even Radio to come and do a story about why your school is supporting Zaidee’s Rainbow Shoelaces. Also have your school news letter inform parents of what this activity is all about.

The aim of this day is to understand a bit more about organ and tissue donation, transplant and awareness so all students can discuss this subject with their parents and family.

Zaidee’s Rainbow Day has worked successfully across Australia covering Primary and Secondary schools from Private and Public schools alike. Should you require any further assistance or help at any time – then please contact me.
